“The spiritual path is not about improvement, it’s about letting go.” – Jack Kornfield
Dear ones,
We often come to spiritual practice carrying so much—the problems of our body, the tasks we have to do, the stories we tell of our life, our fears, our hopes. Perhaps we imagine that if we practice well enough, we will become less anxious, more relaxed, a more pleasant person. Maybe even a great spiritual human being.
And of course, meditation can help. But the invitation to awaken is deeper: to open to our true nature, to rest in that space of truth, as the Buddha did in the midst of all of life under the Bodhi tree.
We can become so caught in our identities that we lose a sense of something greater. Practice invites us to loosen our hold, to see beyond the limited stories of who we are.
In this video, I share stories of friendship, impermanence, and awakening. Together, we explore what it means to let go and meet the changing seasons of our life.
As we learn to let go, there comes a sense of grace.
With metta,
Jack
